and locally at Legal Aid of Western Michigan. Throughout her career, advocating for vulnerable populations has been a passion for Kelly. She still remains active locally and at a statewide level with many organizations working to advocate for vulnerable populations - especially seniors.


Statewide, Kelly is the current 2019-2020 Chair of the Elder Law and Disability Rights Section of the State Bar of Michigan  and former chair of it's inaugural Legislative Committee. Kelly  is also a member of the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan.  Kelly is a Supporting Fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation and was honored to be a recipient of the Joe D. Sutton Call to Justice Leadership Award from Elderlaw of Michigan in 2015.


Locally, Kelly is a member of the Older Adult Services Advisory County for Kalamazoo County, a Board Member of Lending Hands Inc, and a member of the Kalamazoo County Elder Abuse Prevention Coalition and Kalamazoo County Advocates for Senior Issues (KCASI) and frequently speaks to community groups and non-profits on long term care and estate planning issues.


Originally from Berrien County, Kelly and her husband John have lived in Kalamazoo County for 30+ years and have two children. Kelly and John  enjoy spending time with family, including Sunday afternoon co-ed league softball games (although Kelly's cleats are now retired).  Kelly and John also enjoy teaching youth group, volunteering at their church, walking Michigan trails, and spending time with their extended family and friends.

Kelly is a cum laude graduate of both Thomas M. Cooley Law School ( Now Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School)  and Western Michigan University.
